He is Principal Dentist at Edgbaston Dental Centre in Birmingham and Rock Dental in Wolverhampton, where his work spans general dentistry, implant dentistry, oral surgery, restorative treatment and conscious sedation.

Alongside his clinical practice, Anoup has a particular interest in professional standards, clinical governance, consent and the legal and ethical responsibilities of dental professionals. His career combines hands-on patient care with teaching, mentoring, leadership and medico-legal reporting.

He is a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and serves on the Council of the College of General Dentistry as Vice President and elected West Midlands Representative. He is also a member of the Birmingham Local Dental Committee.

Qualifications and Education

Anoup graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2002 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Since qualifying, he has continued to develop his knowledge and skills through a broad range of postgraduate qualifications in dentistry, implantology, education and law.

His postgraduate qualifications include MFGDP(UK), MJDF RCS(Eng), a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from University College London, awarded with Distinction, and an MSc in Implant Dentistry from the University of Central Lancashire. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Wolverhampton.

He has also achieved Fellowship of the College of General Dentistry and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Professional Appointments

Anoup’s professional appointments reflect his involvement in clinical practice, education, leadership and professional representation.

As Principal Dentist at Rock Dental and Edgbaston Dental Centre, he has played a central role in developing clinical teams, expanding referral services and supporting multidisciplinary care. His work includes helping to build systems that support consistent clinical standards, good communication and patient-focused treatment planning.

He is also a National Mentor in dental implantology and conscious sedation, supporting other dentists in developing their clinical skills and confidence. Over the years, he has taught and mentored colleagues through a range of training providers and professional education settings.

In addition, Anoup has worked for many years as a dental expert witness, providing independent reports for legal firms in relation to dental treatment, consent, standard of care and clinical disputes.

Clinical Interests

Anoup’s main areas of clinical practice include:

  • Dental implantology
  • Oral surgery
  • Restorative dentistry
  • Full-mouth rehabilitation
  • Conscious sedation
  • Management of anxious patients
  • Dento-legal assessment and reporting

He has trained in and worked with a number of implant systems, including Astra, Ankylos, Nobel Biocare, Straumann and DIO. His implant work includes both the surgical placement and restorative aspects of treatment, allowing him to assess and plan cases from diagnosis through to final restoration and long-term maintenance.

Anoup has a particular interest in treatment planning for more complex cases, especially where patients require a combination of restorative dentistry, implant treatment, oral surgery or sedation. He also has extensive experience in supporting nervous and anxious patients, using careful communication and conscious sedation where appropriate to help make treatment more manageable.

Teaching, Lecturing and Publications

Education has been an important part of Anoup’s professional career. He has lectured in the UK and internationally on topics including implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, clinical decision-making, ethics, communication and professional development.

His expert witness work covers matters involving dental negligence, consent, implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, treatment planning and complex clinical disputes. His opinions are informed by his clinical experience, postgraduate legal training and understanding of professional standards in dentistry.

Anoup is trained through the Cardiff University and Bond Solon Expert Witness programme and aims to provide reports that are clear, balanced, evidence-based and accessible to both legal and clinical audiences.
